Learn how to make candy soap that looks like a Ring Pop. This easy lollipop soap recipe makes for an adorable guest soap or gift.

I love playing with melt and pour soap because it’s so easy to use. I therefore love to find new objects to make into soap, which is how I came up with this candy soap idea. And with the invention of mold putty, you can turn pretty much anything into soap! Once you have the mold, this craft project only takes a couple minutes.

This ring pop soap craft is also great for kids. And who knows, maybe because it looks like candy it will encourage them to wash their hands!

And even though it’s a novelty soap, these lollipop soaps are actually very useful. Because of the ring on the back, it makes it really easy to hold and use. No slippery soap here!

Materials for Candy Soaps

Mold Putty (the one I used doesn’t exist anymore, but this one’s similar)
Ring Pop (Amazon)
Glycerin Soap Base (Amazon)
Soap Fragrance or Essential Oils (this is a good variety pack)
Soap Dye (such as these)
Rubbing Alcohol

Instructions to Make the Ring Pop Lollipop Mold

To make the candy soap mold, you first need to mix the putty. Follow the package instructions, but typically you’ll combine two parts together. Be sure to mix them completely.

The putty I used doesn’t exist anymore, but this one is similar.

Once mixed, wrap it around a Ring Pop. Push the putty all around to the base of the lollipop. Flatten the top of the mold so that you can flip it upside down and it won’t roll around.

Let the mold set and then remove the lollipop from the mold. Throw out the candy, but keep the ring base. Wash it off along with the mold in case any candy and sugar is left.

Instructions to Make the Candy Soap

Cut some glycerin soap and place it into a microwave safe dish or paper cup. Microwave it for 10 second increments until completely melted.

Then stir in a couple drops of soap dye and fragrance. I personally love the idea of using watermelon or other candy-inspired scents.

Pour the melted soap mixture into your newly made candy soap mold. Then give the top of the soap a quick spray of rubbing alcohol to pop the bubbles.

Take the base of the ring pop and place it upside down into the soap. Then put the whole thing into the fridge to set.

Carefully remove the lollipop soap from the mold. Let it set and now you have an adorable candy soap!

What to do if the soap breaks coming out of the mold

Because of the shape of the mold and how soft glycerin soap is, there’s a good chance it will break off like mine did.

If that happens to you, it’s not a problem. Simply heat up some more soap and dip the Ring Pop base into it. Then stick it back into the lollipop.

See, all better!

It really is so much fun to use! And now that you’ve made the candy mold, you can use it for all sorts of other craft projects. Keep in mind, however, this kind of mold putty can’t be used for food.
