How I Created The Martini Oreo Truffle Pop

I originally made this oreo truffle recipe years ago as desserts for a 21st birthday party. At the time all of my friends were turning 21, but with my birthday being in November, I was still only 20. Therefore I couldn’t actually join them for the bar hopping. Instead I would have the party start at my place and make 21st birthday birthday cake, cupcakes, and treats. Normally I would make an alcoholic cake, which is really just a cake soaked in a booze filled simple syrup (or these martini cupcakes).

However, when I made these, it was for my friend who was the last of us to turn 21. Therefore instead of a making a a cake, I decided to change things up and make Oreo balls shaped into martini glasses. And keeping with the turning 21 theme, I infused them with alcohol using a bit of Amaretto for a twist.

Instructions to make Oreo Truffles

1. Grind the Oreos into crumbs with a food processor. Or if you need to relieve some stress, you can go pour them into a plastic bag and smash them with a heavy object such as a rolling pin.

2. Mix together the Oreo crumbs, cream cheese, and Amaretto (if you’re using alcohol). At this point I will absolutely not blame you if some of the mixture happens to disappear. I’ve got your back – I’ll also say the dog took it.

3. Chill what’s left of the mixture in the fridge until it is firm enough to hold its shape. This will likely be 30 min – 1 hr.

4. Roll the mixture into 1 inch balls and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Place a lollipop stick into each one and shape the ball into a cone.

5. Chill the Oreo balls (well, cones, now) in the fridge again until firm.

6. While they’re chilling, you can start to create the olive decorations for the Oreo pops. To do this, take a toothpick and poke it through a green jelly bean. Then clean off any excess jelly bean that may be stuck on the edge. Set aside.

7. Melt the chocolate candy melts according the package instructions and dip the Oreo truffles into them. Make sure you get the chocolate a good way down the cake pop stick as that will shape part of the martini glass.

8. Then take one of the prepared olives on a skewer (jelly bean on a toothpick) and press it into the top of Oreo pop at an angle.

9. Place onto a cake pop stand or foam block to set.
